Terms & Conditions
Last updated · 3 August 2026
These terms govern your use of Indicator Gateway (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to them. They are written to be read.
Indicator Gateway is a product of FORERANGER LTD ("we", "us"), which provides the Service under these terms.
Section 1The Service
Indicator Gateway provides tools to explore public statistical series, compose them into portfolios (composite statistical indices), build custom indicators, and monitor the results against computed benchmarks. Features vary by plan as described on the pricing page.
Section 2Accounts
- You must provide accurate registration information and keep your credentials confidential. You are responsible for activity under your account.
- Accounts are for a single person; team and organisation use is available on the appropriate plans.
- Tell us promptly at the address below if you suspect unauthorised use of your account.
Section 3Your content and methodology
Portfolio configurations, custom indicator formulas and related settings you create remain yours. You grant us the licence required to store and process them in order to operate the Service (computing composites, rendering charts, keeping activity trails) and nothing more. We do not publish your work or use it to build competing indices.
Section 4Source data, attribution and licences
- Indicator series originate from third-party statistical providers: the World Bank (World Development Indicators, ESG, Worldwide Governance Indicators, Findex, the Poverty and Inequality Platform and related databases, CC BY 4.0), the International Monetary Fund (World Economic Outlook; IMF data terms, and IMF data are available free of charge from the IMF), the United Nations (SDG Global Database; DESA World Population Prospects, CC BY 3.0 IGO; UNHCR Refugee Population Statistics, CC BY 4.0; UNICEF Data Warehouse datasets, CC BY 3.0 IGO), UNDP (Human Development Report, CC BY 3.0 IGO), the UNESCO Institute for Statistics (CC BY-SA 4.0), the International Labour Organization (ILOSTAT, CC BY 4.0), FAO (FAOSTAT and AQUASTAT, CC BY 4.0), the World Resources Institute (Climate Watch, CC BY 4.0), Ember (CC BY 4.0), the Global Carbon Project (Global Carbon Budget, Friedlingstein et al., CC BY 4.0), the V-Dem Institute (V-Dem Dataset, CC BY-SA, accessed via Our World in Data), the University of Notre Dame (ND-GAIN Country Index, CC BY 3.0), the Uppsala Conflict Data Program (CC BY 4.0), the Standardized World Income Inequality Database (SWIID, CC0 1.0), the Groningen Growth and Development Centre (Penn World Table and the Maddison Project Database, CC BY 4.0), WIPO (Global Innovation Index, CC BY 4.0) and Our World in Data (curated series, CC BY 4.0). Their licences and terms apply to the underlying data.
- When you export or republish material that includes source data, you are responsible for attributing the original provider as its licence requires.
- We pass series through with definitions and units intact, but we do not control the source databases: providers revise history, change methodologies and correct errors, and those changes flow into the Service.
Section 5Not financial, investment or professional advice
Portfolios in the Service are composite statistical indices over development, economic and health indicators. They are measured in index points since a base year and are not financial instruments; nothing in the Service constitutes investment, legal, medical or other professional advice. Decisions you make on the basis of the Service are yours.
Section 6Acceptable use
- No attempts to breach, probe or overload the Service or its infrastructure.
- No scraping at volumes that degrade the Service; use the API where your plan provides one.
- No reselling access to the Service or misrepresenting its outputs as the source providers' official statistics.
- No use that violates applicable law.
Section 7Plans, billing and cancellation
- Paid plans are billed in advance, monthly or annually. Prices are stated on the pricing page; changes are announced ahead of your next renewal.
- Starter and Pro are paid by card through Stripe. Card details are provided directly to Stripe and are never held by us; using a card-paid plan is therefore also subject to Stripe's terms for the payment itself. You can change or cancel a card-paid plan yourself at any time.
- Enterprise plans and the trade & tariff Data tier are quoted per engagement and invoiced under a separate written agreement, not through the card checkout. Where that agreement and these terms conflict, the agreement governs.
- You may cancel at any time; access continues to the end of the paid period. On downgrade nothing is deleted: work beyond the new plan's limits stays viewable and editable, and creating more is paused until you are back within the limits.
- Taxes are your responsibility where applicable.
Section 8Availability and changes
We aim for the Service to be reliably available but do not promise uninterrupted operation on self-serve plans; uptime commitments are available in Enterprise agreements. We may evolve features over time, and will not materially reduce what a paid plan includes mid-term without notice.
Section 9Disclaimers and liability
The Service is provided "as is". While the platform is designed to disclose estimation and provenance, we do not warrant that source data, computations or outputs are error-free or suited to any particular purpose. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability for claims arising from the Service is limited to the amounts you paid for it in the twelve months before the claim, and neither party is liable for indirect or consequential losses. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Section 10Termination
You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that materially breach these terms, after notice where practicable. Sections that by nature should survive (3, 4, 5, 9, 11) survive termination.
Section 11Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes go first to good-faith discussion between the parties, then to the courts of England and Wales, which have exclusive jurisdiction.
Section 12Changes to these terms
If we change these terms materially, account holders are notified by email before the changes take effect, and the date at the top of this page is updated. Continued use after the effective date is acceptance.
Section 13Contact
Email is the only contact channel. Questions about these terms go to info@indicatorgateway.com, addressed to FORERANGER LTD at the registered office above.
